SQL-ftpd ftp server for SQL Server data retreival

• Revision 0.99B - Beta Version, bug fix release, patch level 2. September 16, 1996.

  Bugs Fixed:

  • SYBCHAR to DATETIME (or SMALLDATETIME) conversions fixed. SYBCHAR should now properly convert to this format.
  • Incorrect detection of non-existant tables fixed. If a table doesn't exist a 401 error is reported, with a corrected message.
  • Incorrect truncation of input data that is not the proper size is fixed. If the input data (SYBCHAR) is longer than the column, a db-convert error will be generated.

• PUT function now implemented and available for test: October 26, 1995

  The put command has finally been implemented and is available for test at the above listed addresses. This command now allows you to send a file or dataset to the SQL-ftpd server, for insertion into a Sybase SQL-server table. There are two variations of the command, put if you wish the table to be truncated and append if you do not wish the table to be truncated. There are examples of usage in the examples page, as well as manual pages on line listed through the links presented above.

• New Servers brought on line! April 25th, 1995

  Two new servers are now available for use in extracting data from the imaging system. The new list of SQL-ftpd server addresses is:

• Revision 0.93B - Beta Version, bug fix release. One new feature added. April 25th, 1995.

  Bugs Fixed:

  • Garbage following null columns now erased.
  • Minor memory allocation bug fixed. Ocassionally control connection was lost due to buffer allocated too short.
  • Added additional logging (internal) for usage stats.
  • Compatibility with Sybase SQL server 4.2 as well as 4.9.2 and System 10 tested.
  • Data Formatting Bug hopefully sqaushed once and for all! The columns are the same as the table definition, with a few exceptions. Those exceptions are now documented and are consistent with Sybase standards for column lengths. The exceptions to the data formatting are:
    • int (1 byte ) now prints a length of 3 characters (aka: tinyint).
    • int (2 bytes) now prints a length of 6 characters (aka: smallint).
    • int (4 bytes) now prints a length of 11 characters.
    • float (4 and 8 bytes) now prints a length of 20 characters.
    • money (2 and 4 bytes) now prints a length of 24 characters.
    • datetime and smalldatetime now print lengths of 26 characters.
    • bit (1 byte) now prints a length of 1 character.

    These conversion are required because Sybase is unable to format a 4 byte integer into a 4 byte character string beyond the number 9999. Rathar than return an error, conversions are automatically done.

    You should rely on your own conversions whenever you are in doubt.

  New Features:
  • SITE MSGS command added.
    This function allows you to turn off the SQL server messages which are returned whenever an error occurs. Be careful using this command, for you could generate a SQL server error and not know the difference. You should provide a method of checking your results instead of depending on an error code or message - because this command disables them!

    This command was provided for the use of openserver calls within a select stored procedure. Like the SITE TABS command, this command is a toggle. The default is to enable SQL server messages. The first invocation will cause them to be disabled. A message is printed, showing the state of SQL server messaging.

• Documentation properly formatted for a true Web interface. April 20th, 1995.

  This includes splitting of large files (which also eases maintanence - so hopefully the docs won't be relics in two weeks), linking the documents together so they flow from one section to the next and creating a table of contents which points out what's new and revision history.

• Revision 0.92B - Beta Version, bug fix release. One new feature added. April 19th, 1995.

  Bugs Fixed:

  • Data formatting bug modified. All columns now same as table definition.
  • Last character truncation bug fixed.
  • Select from table with no data now returns SQL server message.

  New Features:

  • SITE TABS command added.
    This command allows you to disable or enable the tab delimited field function of the server. By default the server delimits each column with a tab character. From your client, you can issue a SITE TABS command, and the first one will turn this feature off. A message is printed to show the state of the setting. Note that this is a toggle command, negating the previous state of the tabs setting.

  • SQL server messages now correctly finish 211 message to client.
  • ASCII mode now correctly returns carriage-return/line-feed terminator.
